easyGroup Secures easyTag Mark Win at UKIPO

Published: 26 September 2026
The UK Intellectual Property Office has ruled in favour of easyGroup in a combined opposition and revocation action against Steinling Holding B.V. In decision O/0704/26 issued on 5 August 2026, hearing officer Andrea Rossi revoked almost all of Steinling’s earlier EEZEETAGS registrations for non-use. Only a narrow specification covering certain self-adhesive plastic baggage labels in class 16 survived. The hearing officer then dismissed Steinling’s opposition to easyGroup’s easyTag.app application in full. Despite some aural and conceptual similarity between the marks, the global assessment found no likelihood of confusion, with visual differences and the primarily visual nature of label purchases proving decisive. The ruling leaves easyGroup free to proceed towards registration of its mark for baggage-related goods and services.

Small-business owners should monitor competitors’ marks for non-use and be ready to file revocation actions to clear the register.
